Why Benjamin Mendy wants Man City to pay him multi-million pounds
Former Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy has launched a “multi-million-pound” claim against the Premier League champions over unpaid wages.
techblogbase.com understands that the Frenchman is claiming that his wages were deducted without his authorisation following his rape and sexual assault
charges in 2021.
The right-back was was found not guilty of one count of rape and another of attempted rape in July.
That was after he was pronounced not guilty of six counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault earlier in January.
Now, the Frenchman is claiming that City stopped his pay during this period and is seeking the return of pay up until the end of his contract with City which ended in June 2023.
A statement provided to Sky Sports said: “Nick De Marco KC [instructed by Laffer Abogados [Madrid] is acting for the former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy in a multi-million-pound claim for
unauthorised deductions from wages.
“Manchester City FC failed to pay Mr Mendy any wages at all from September 2021, following Mr Mendy being charged with various offences all of which he was subsequently acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023.
“The claim will come before an Employment Tribunal.” Pep Guardiola managed Manchester City and has not said anything.
