How ‘disloyal’ Jose Peseiro plans to dump Nigeria, submits CV for club job

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has already submitted his curriculum vitae for another coaching job. If the Nigeria Football Federation was serious about sacking him, the Portuguese has now displayed a high level of disloyalty to Nigeria.

An official of Egyptian top side Zamalek confirmed on Sunday that Peseiro’s CV is already with the Board of Directors of the club.

The Portuguese has applied for the job either by himself or through a proxy, despite being under contract with Nigeria.

The managerial job at Zamalek has been vacant following the sacking of their Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osorio.

The Zamalek official, however, underlined that no agreement has been reached with the Portuguese.

A Zamalek official told Arabic sports website Kooora: “Jose Peseiro is among the names already nominated to lead Zamalek.

“But he does not enjoy any preference. He is just one name among many CVs on the board of directors’ table.

“The football administration, represented by the board of directors duo, Ahmed Suleiman and Hussein Al-Sayed, has not finished working on this
file and has not settled on a specific name yet, and it is still in the study stage.”

It has been a disappointing period for the Nigerian senior men’s national team under Jose Peseiro.

The Super Eagles were not able to win any of their opening two 2026 World Cup qualification matches.

The Super Eagles played out a 1-1 draw on home ground with a lowly rated Lesotho team and repeated the same scoreline against Zimbabwe on Sunday.
