Peseiro set to submit Super Eagles provisional list

Five players Super Eagles missed in 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has claimed that his team missed five key players as they drew 1-1 with Zimbabwe in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

Kelechi Iheanacho saved Nigeria from an
embarrassing defeat after Walter Musona opened the scoring for the hosts. It is the second successive 1-1 draw for Peseiro’s men in the qualifying series, after they were held by Lesotho three days ago.

When asked whether the absence of some key players contributed to Super Eagles’ failure to record a win against Zimbabwe, Peseiro said: “We missed Osimhen, Ndidi, Taiwo, Zaidu, Chukwueze but I think we had enough to beat Zimbabwe.“

Nigeria will now face South Africa in their next World Cup qualifier in June next year.
