3 times Nigerian artistes have shone at the biggest football events after Rema performs at Ballon d’Or – On Monday night, Nigerian music superstar, Divine
Ikubor, better known as Rema, performed at this year’s Ballon d’Or award.

The event took place in Paris, France with Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi claiming the award for the eighth time. But the moment of pride for Nigerians came twice during the show.

First, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen finished in eighth spot on the final rankings. It is the highest a Nigerian footballer has been rated.

Then came Rema to perform his chart-topping song, ‘Calm Down’. His performance at Ballon D’or became a historic win for Nigeria, as the singer is the first Afrobeat artist to perform at the award ceremony.

But there are two other times Nigerian artistes entertained the football world on the biggest stages.

In December 2022, David Adeleke better known as Davido performed at the closing ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar.

Taking to his Instagram page, to share several photos from the historic night, Davido appreciated all for the love.

Affirming his love for everyone, he wished them a happy festive season. “Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. Thank you all I love you”.

The singer thrilled football fans with an electrifying performance as he performed some of his hit records including global chart-topping Last Last.

Burna Boy performed alongside Brazilian singer Anitta, as fans jumped off their seats in excitement.
